Que les fans de silverchair se rassurent, un nouvel album pourrait voir le jour d'ici un an, comme l'affirme le chanteur: "Paul bosse son prochain album solo et j'ai deja composé 6 ou 7 nouvelles chansons pour silverchair. Grace a Diorama, les attentes à l'encontre de silverchair ne sont plus les memes. je ne sais pas encore comment sonnera cet album, mais il sera certainement different de Diorama. Different de tout ce que le public connait deja de silverchair." On l'attend ferme.

Petit remontage de topic; à la sortie de Diorama, Daniel avait dit qu'il avait quand même écrit des chansons plus bourrins One Way Mule et The Lever, même si plus complexes que ce qu'ils avaient pu faire auparavant, ceci pour respecter les fans des débuts.

Que pensez-vous de cette iniative ? Moi perso je pense que c'est une très bonne idée, parce que quoi de plus déplorable qu'un groupe dont on est fan change du tout au tout et que l'on ne s'y reconnaisse plus...pour d'autre cela sera peut-être un manque d'intégrité...

J'atend vos réactions.

le groupe peut aussi te faire découvrir des nouveaux trucs, t'emmener ailleurs... enfin je dis ça, je dis rien

Oui bien sûr, un groupe évolue c'est normal, mais parfois les fans préféreraient qu'ils fassent ça dans un side project plutôt que de changer le groupe original, et d'un autre côté, un groupe qui n'évolue pas c'est un signe de faiblesse...il faut trouver le juste milieu.

pas d'accord un groupe doit pas faire de la zik pour plaire a ses fans mais ils doivent faire ce qu'ils veulent ce qu'ils sentent. pour one way mule et the lever elles sont plus bourrins que les autres de l album c est sur mais bon je les vois tres mal dans frogstomp par exemple ca reste quand meme des chansons dans l esprit diorama donc ca passe sans probleme.

a propos de silverchair, vous connaissez The Dissociatives, le side-project du chanteur ? On retrouve la voix caractéristique, mais sinon c'est différent, de l'électro/pop/rock, vraiment bien gaulé, y'a des mélodies vraiment imparables !

Oué j'aime bien parce que c'est Daniel Johns, sinon bof bof...j'aime que la moitié des chansons sur tout l'album (des Dissociatives).

Ca fait plaisir cette nouvelle etant un tres grand fan de silverchair!(surtout a partir de freak) Leur concert a la mutualité pour la tournée diorama etait tout simplement genial.. Les dissociatives c'est tres sympa aussi:)

Let me introduce to you, or let's welcome back Chris Joannou (bass), Ben Gillies (drums), and Daniel Johns (vocalist/guitarist) of the Newcastle Rock Band silverchair.


RT: How does it feel, to be back together?

Ben: It's good. I'm very happy to be recording silverchair songs again. It's something new and what we love doing it together.

Daniel: We were never not together, we just took a break away and did other things that we like to do musically. We are musicians and as you grow you like to explore the world of music and do different things. It's nice to be back recording with silverchair they're my mates.

Chris: There was never a time where I wasn't excited or happy to record a new album.

RT: Is it safe to say that, you have just confirmed any rumours that have circulated about silverchair breaking up?

Chris: me?

RT: Whoever would like to answer the question..

Daniel: Safe to say? (laughs) Yeah the media has this bad habit of making a small thing big. We never broke up. Never.

Chris: It's more publicity for there magazines or news papers. They have this theory ; print something negative and the conclusion will be; they get better reviews and more readers, probably true.

Daniel: Sure it is, but it isn't right for them to make-up their own stories and confuse the fans with false information. And that's exactly what had happened with silverchair. I do my thing with The Dissociatives project and you guys (Chris and Ben) do yours with your bands, next thing you know silverchair are broken up, Daniel Johns has a new band. It's a silly thing. Oh let's get another thing straight, the Dissociatives are not over either so crush that one before it starts, thank you.

Ben: Then there was one rumour that I wasn't happy with silverchair, so I'd like to say that's a false to while we're on the subject. Like Dan said we took a break away. If it wasn't for silverchair the 3 of us would be most likely doing something else, not this interview.

Daniel: What I want to ask you Rachel is, what are your thoughts about the media printing stuff that we never said or other musicians what have you?

RT: I personally would not understand the reasons why, because I don't do business that way. Yes, I understand how you feel about it, but I don't think there will ever be anything we could do to change it.

Ben: We can start right here. Maybe one clean and real interview will inspire others to do the same.

Daniel: You never know it could work, people are like penguins, follow the leader.

Chris: (laughs) I have never heard that one before.

Daniel: You have never heard that analogy used before?

Chris: Nope. It makes sense though.

Daniel: Thanks.

Ben: I think that the media should make a deal with us ..

RT: What would that deal be?

Ben: Interview us all you want but don't change what we say.

RT: Not such a bad deal.

RT: What would you guys be doing if you were not in silverchair?

Dan: Writing music, playing live gigs. Petting penguins.

Chris: Doing what I'm doing now, just not with silverchair.

Ben: I would be writing music and still doing what I am doing now.

RT: Lets talk about the new album, what can you tell us.

Daniel: Nothing. It's top secret.

Chris: It's something like, Freak Show meets Diorama.

Ben: Daniel has written some great songs and we all have worked on each one together. It is a bit different from what we've recorded in the past, but not too extreme. Just different ideas that we hope everyone will like.

RT: Like FrogStomp?

Chris: (laughs) Where did that come from? That's history!! Nothing like that but it's rock. It's a surprise so we can't tell you any more.

RT: What I mean is, are you guys leaning more towards the FrogStomp era or Diorama, what can we expect?

Ben: We don't want to give away the surprise!

Daniel: It's new silverchair music so don't expect it to sound like any other silverchair album. We're not into making every album sound the same, that's just boring. What we've done with this next album is used a bit of modern and old together. To describe the music, wouldn't be fair, you have to let people use their own judgement.

RT: How many songs will you be recording?

Chris: Enough songs to fill 2 CDs.

RT: Will this be a double CD then?

Daniel: Yeah. We're also going to include some videos. We're even thinking of putting together maybe one DVD and one CD, combined package if you will. People seem to like that. Many ideas.

RT: What are your thoughts being back on the road together?

Ben: I can't wait to see the reaction of the silverchair fans. It's going to hit me hard.

Chris: When we played Wave Aid last year, I was nervous at first but when I looked into the crowd and saw all those smiles and wide eyes I was like , "This fucking rocks." It's a happy feeling. Playing live and playing live with your mates.

Daniel: Thanks, that's really sweet. There is nothing like getting up on the stage and seeing how many people really love what you do. And they mean it, it's such a nice feeling. And doing it with the kids you have grown-up with is even more special.

Ben: Wave Aid was really awesome! At that moment we knew we'd be back soon. We got together and had a long conversation over some beers, and that's when the plan really started to go into play.

RT: Any Plans to play Splendour In The Grass?

Ben: That's always a fun time. Probably will.

Daniel: I won't be home. (laughs)


RT: I see that you have a few dates already lined up, what one are you most looking forward to playing?

Chris: The first gig is always the pressure gig. I look forward to them all really. I can't just pick one.

RT: Pressure gig? How so?

Chris: Getting back up there and wanting to give it your best, with no fuck ups makes me nervous. Just for the first song or two. Then I get more familiarised with.

Daniel: I look forward to them all, but I think that the Rock-It Festival is going to be very hyper and exciting. There's a great line-up of new bands and it's another great way for these bands to get alittle more out of what they do for a living. I love festivals.

Ben: the Great Escape is my pick. Something For Kate and Paul Mac will be there along with other mates. It's basically like a friendly get together for us, we know most of the bands, it's really cool!

Daniel: Yeah, it is cool. Nice to see friends getting attention, everyone works so hard at it.


RT: Will Paul Mac be helping you with this album?

Ben: Back to that again. We have several friends that will be featured on the new silverchair album.

Daniel: That's not a yes or a no it's a maybe. But yes.. but no..no but yes.

RT: What has been going on with the members of silverchair over these past few years...Daniel.

Daniel:(points to Chris) You go first.

Chris: No I'm still thinking.

Daniel: Ben, tell us your story what have you been doing?

Ben: Recording with my other band Tamberlane and playing some local gigs. Family stuff.

Daniel: Chris waht have you been doing?

Chris: Producing/writing /recording with The Mess Hall drinking beer. Hanging out with mates. Daniel?

Daniel: Writing songs with the Dissociatives, playing gigs and writing songs for silverchair, writing and recording really. Spending time with my lovely wife.

RT: Any final words?

Chris: Thank you.

Ben: Don't believe everything you read most of it is BS.
