News news news.... Before we're starting with the new releases: the TE' 3xLP and SAMUEL JACKSON FIVE 4xLP test pressings are finally confirmed. All preorders will ship as soon as we receive them – hopefully early September. Thanks a lot for your patience.

Today we're starting the preorders for the marvellous new albums of HER NAME IS CALLA - THE QUIET LAMB CD/2xLP - and HEIRS - FOWL CD/LP). We're also repressing the HEIRS debut ALCHERA for their upcoming European tour; you can preorder this one as well.

Accessorily we're presenting you the first release of a new denovali drone/ambient artist named N from Germany. The GAGER 2xLP is already the N release no. 9 - the previous records are available via other really nice labels and we have most of them available in our mailorder. Needless to say that we’ll realize the next N releases as well. GAGER is limited to 100 pieces.

HER NAME IS CALLA – THE QUIET LAMB CD/2xLP

Her Name Is Calla return this year with a new full-length album named 'The Quiet Lamb' on Denovali Records. The album sees the band fully immersed into their song writing, making clear steps forward from their highly acclaimed previous album 'The Heritage'. Described as "one of the UK's most forward thinking bands", Her Name Is Calla are known for their impressive live shows full of emotion, explosions of noise and passages of the quietest, most gentle harmonies. Based around as core unit of five members, the band wields a multitude of instruments, from drums and guitar to recorders and synthesis, from violin and trombone to vocals and harmonica. The resulting sound is dense but controlled. 'The Quiet Lamb' is the result of years of planning and one years recording and mixing. Stretched over the course of 75 minutes, the new album finds the band at their most passionate to date taking the listener through a journey of ten songs, each one a part of a whole.

HEIRS – FOWL CD/LP





Upon returning to Melbourne after 67 shows across Europe and Japan, Heirs commenced work on their second album, Fowl. With the baton of core song-writing being handed from drummer Damian Coward to guitarist, Brent Stegeman, Heirs turned their attention toward their electronic underbelly, honing in on the industrial vapour and blackened ambience that
permeated their debut, Alchera, distilling the underlying sense of melody with an arresting sense of dread. Fowl displays a deliberate shift towards a broader sonic palette, enabling the band to incorporate disparate inuences and approaches to create a sound that is uniquely their own.

Fowl deals with the human processing of the ornery – the filth we feed upon to entertain us, to sate our hunger, to gratify our sexual desires, to escape our reality or simply to facilitate our survival. Fowl is an exploration of the consumption of filth, the nourishment it provides and the way we excrete it back into the world, calling into question the notion of morality and its place in an increasingly faithless populace.

From wheezing blasts of industrial steam to weeping passages of gothic suspense, Fowl is a fully realised analysis of the repugnant. Its pugilistic rhythmic foundation, reverb soaked guitars, crackling electronics and deadpan dark-wave meditation create an abstract dronescape of industrial dirge and metallic ambience coalesced into an ambitious whole.

Recorded and mixed by Neil Thomason at Head Gap in June/July 2010, and produced by Brent Stegeman and Damian Coward, Fowl is a 45-minute journey inside the proverbial machine and represents a band confronting the visual and aural atrocities of the quotidian.

The VINYL VERSION comes with a fantastic design in three different colors (white with yellow, Black/Yellow - A Side / B Side, Black) in a heavy gatefold sleeves with thick printed inner sleeves and on 180g. The CD is available as a limited card pack. For fans of Swans, Controlled Bleeding, HTRK, Pelican, Godflesh & Nadja.

HEIRS – ALCHERA CD/LP Repress





Heirs' debut full-length "Alchera" is a 43 minute movement of oppressive instrumental power, cyclic ritualism and bleak hallucinogenic revelation. Recorded at Head Gap Studios by Neil Thomason in the heat waves of Melbourne in January 2009 and mastered by James Plotkin (Isis, Khanate, Burning Witch), the 6 pieces recorded capture the band's live volume - a blanket of sound traversing a rolling dynamic landscape.

Drawing influence from Michael Gira and his Swans legacy, the sledgehammer riffs and industrial pummel of Godflesh, and continuing Stegeman's incense shrouded low-end incantations from his work with doom dealers Whitehorse, combined with Jackson's reverb-soaked noise, Alchera strips bare the needless excesses of post-rock and heavy metal in favour of something much more concise and affecting. A lurching, drugged-out specter - holding solace in one hand, and vengeance in the other.

From the seething metallic buzz and bluster of the opening track "Plague Asphyx", through to the crowning low-end droning turbulence of "Russia", the recording is an archetype for an existence shrouded in confusion, joy, disappointment and addiction

N(9) - GAGER 2xLP



the music of N is like a mirror of the moment. regardless how much thinking and planning went before. the sound captured by a "live"-recording setting comes directly from the inside. amps + guitar are the instruments used, there is no cut and paste afterwards nor any overdub...
all N-work is counted by numbers that reflect the timeline of recording and / or the moment of the conclusion to go for the certain concept. all N-recordings (with the possible exception of single-tracks) deal with a real place and so the title of any album does.
N decided to focus on the freshness that can only be achieved by recording-while-playing-the-first-time and went for that concept on all solo-recordings since then, using a one guitar / two amplifiers setup with a chain of pedal-effects in between. with this it is possible to record exactly what happened in the moment of the inspiration. creating an aesthetic in sound that is based on a certain warm deepness, being highly attractable both for player and listener. during live-performance, N does not use any backing tapes nor prefabricated loops.
