We're back with two new releases: one by a denovali rookie: SAFFRONKEIRA from Italy - and one by the denovali doyens / dinosaurs / grandfathers: SANKT OTTEN.

SAFFRONKEIRA is the Italian sound artists Eugenio Cara - with this project he lives out his passion of being a researcher of the possibility of expression offered by currently available technology. His debut is a 2 track 10'' (which is limited to 350 copies and won't be repressed) - in July will follow his first album called ''A New Life'' as a 2xCd and on two different 2xLPs. His sound should please fans of MURCOF, ALVA NOTO, FENNESZ or maybe ARVO PART. A fantastic diversified sound.

Most of you already know the German duo SANKT OTTEN because of several past releases we've did with them - especially the last full length ''Gottes Synthesizer'' and their split record with MAJEURE. They're now back with a new 8 tracks album. ''Sequencer Liebe (Sequencer Love)'' leads into a paradise of warm analogue sounds garnished with the typical soaring guitar drones of Oliver Klemm, while the band's mastermind Stephan Otten flavoured these ingredients with his 80s electronic drum sounds. New Artist: We're also happy to present you a new denovali artist which also will perform at this year's Swingfest edition (Oct 5th to 7th in Essen): THE NEST - Comprising of Christoph Clöser (Bohren & der Club of Gore), Tycho Schottelius (Desmond Denker), Thomas Mahmoud & Gerald Mandl (Tannhäuser Sterben & das Tod) The Nest have created their own blend of electronic sounds, jazz and noise across various improvisational sessions recorded live in Cologne in 2011. SANKT OTTEN - SEQUENCER LIEBE [CD|LP|DIGITAL]



SANKT OTTEN is a German instrumental duo which already teamed up for building the first walls of sound in 1999. So far they have released 5 albums and several Eps. They joined Denovali Records in 2009. For fans of KLAUS SCHULZE, ZOMBI, ROBERT FRIPP, KRAFTWERK or KRAUTROCK in general. In 2010 Denovali have released a split record with MAJEURE, the solo project of A.E. PATERRA from ZOMBI (Relapse Records). On this album SANKT OTTEN for the first time showed a more distinctive interest in the world of vintage synthesizers. Their 2011 album GOTTES SYNTHESIZER continued this voyage into the synth's heaven and was very well accepted by the critic. SEQUENCER LIEBE (“Sequencer Love“) leads into a paradise of warm analogue sounds garnished with the typical soaring guitar drones of Oliver Klemm, while the band's mastermind Stephan Otten flavoured these ingredients with his 80s electronic drum sounds. For the first time he used synthetic sounds and percussions for this album exclusively. Sequencer lines that may remind one of German pioneers of progressive electronic music are the red thread of this release - but SANKT OTTEN are moving the Krautrock elements into a new context. The title track "Sequenzer Liebe" is the best example for this approach. On the other hand the band offers ambient tracks like "Mir bricht die Stimme weg" or "Die Stadt riecht nach dir". Both of these epic tracks are dominated by great synthesizer soundscapes and e-bow guitar sounds which give you goose bumps easily. Finally, titles like "Kann denn Liebe Synthie sein" and "Gestern Fand Ich Alte Traenen" show that SANKT OTTEN's talent for little Synthpop hymns that could come right from the 80s. Altogether, the main achievement of their 6th full length is that SANKT OTTEN are combining influences of old genres with elements of today's music to a unique and timeless mixture.

The spanish artist SALUSTIANO again borrowed SANKT OTTEN some of his great paintings for the artwork, this time from this lastest BLACK collection. These black paintings constitute part two of a cooperation trilogy which began with the red artwork of GOTTES SYNTHESIZER. The perfect synergy with SANKT OTTEN's unique sound.

SAFFRONKEIRA - S/T [10''|DIGITAL]



SaffronKeira is a project established in 2008 by Eugenio Caria from the island of Sardinia, Italy. After his contribution to the live series of the Experimental Electronic Music and Visual Arts Festival “Störung”, and a remix on Charles-Eric Charrier's “Silver” album (Experimedia Records), the forthcoming self-titled 10'' / digital release of SaffronKeira constitutes the first standalone release of this project which at the same time serves as an appetiser to the forthcoming debut concept album “A New Life”. With SaffronKeira, Eugenio Cara lives out his passion of being a researcher of the possibility of expression offered by currently available technology. Indeed, in his tracks he experiments a lot with electronics and unconventional elements, which sometimes seem meaningless at first sight, but uncover their significance only on a closer examination. Combining subtle and sometimes even almost invisible rhythms with textures of sound he confidently moves between minimalistic pieces and classic ambient tracks which should please both the analytic ears and the listeners who just want to dive into the music. This self-titled release starts of with “Endless agony of being sick”, where space-filling melodies, hollow drums and minimal female vocals are combined into something which can be simply called “epic” without doubt. The second piece, “Requiem for a dream”, starts off rather abstracly, slowling building up an eerie atmosphere with myriads of sound bits, before finally a reduced piano clears up the picture and takes the listener by storm. For fans of FENNESZ, ALVA NOTO, MURCOF, MAX RICHTER, ARVO PART, etc.
